Happy Campers, Happy Parents

Best of both worlds.

“Thanks again for a great week. Ellie had a blast. We did highs and lows of the week at dinner tonight and Ellie said BU Youth Soccer Camp was her high…when her dad asked her which part. She thought long and hard, shrugged her shoulders, and said, “I just loved all of it!” Thanks. Appreciate your heart with it and the way the girls also learned some soccer skills – Best of both worlds.”

— Michele P.

We will definitely see you next year!

“A big thank you from our family. My son had a wonderful time at the BU youth soccer camp last week. He learned new skills, new friendships, new memories…all thanks to the fantastic Butler Staff! We will definitely see you next year!“

— The ‘H’ Family

Thank you for encouraging her…

“My daughter spent most of last night juggling & never getting more than 3 in a row. She was crying in bed, worried she would be the only one on her team not to get a juggling card. Today at camp, she told me she just got mad & determined, & sure enough, she got 6!! She proudly has her “5” juggling tag on her backpack. Thank you for encouraging her, BU Soccer Camp has been fantastic.”

— Kate H.

Exceeded our expectations.

“Thank you for an incredible week of camp for our son! Once again, BU Soccer Camp exceeded our expectations. We look forward to returning to camp next summer. Hopefully bringing along even more of his Indy Premier teammates!!!”

— Christian H.

Swimming

On various days, our younger campers have the option of a 40-minute swim at the HRC indoor pool. You will receive communication prior to camp letting you know which day(s) your camper has the opportunity to swim. There is Life Guards present. The pool depth is 3 ft, 6 inches. Campers choosing to swim will need a swimsuit, towel and a change of shoes for the walk to the pool.

Camp Athletic Trainer

A certified camp athletic trainer will be present during all camp sessions. At camp check-in on Monday morning, if necessary, please make the athletic trainer aware of any medicine or medical conditions your camper may have.

Age Groups

Initially, campers will be grouped according to age. After evaluation by their coach and if necessary, campers will be re-grouped according to skill level. The best effort will also be given to honor teammate requests.

Inclement Weather Plan

In the case of lighting or other severe weather, we will move campers indoors. Camp will not be canceled due to bad weather, however, Butler University does not have indoor space available to play soccer. We will fill the day with movies, taped soccer games, talent show, trivia games etc. It is up to you if you would like to keep your camper home on days that the weather is not predicted to let up. It is not a frequent occurrence, but we have experienced days like this in the past.

Cancelation Policy

There is a $35 cancellation fee prior to April 1. After April 1 the fee will be $75. There will be no refunds 1 week prior to the start of camp or during the camp week.

Meet the Team

  • Tari St. John

    Co-Owner

“There are two main goals we strive to achieve with every player at camp. One, provide each player with the tools to become a better player, and two, provide such a positive camp experience that each player’s love for the game grows even more.”

    -Tari St. John

Coach St. John has just completed her 18th season with the Bulldogs. Serving as the Co-Head coach alongside Rob Alman for the past 10 years, the duo has led the program to unprecedented success. In 2015, Butler Women's Soccer became the first program in Butler's history to win a Big East Championship. The '15 team set a new program record for wins and became the first team to play in the NCAA Tournament. In the past 5 seasons, St. John's teams have finished no lower than 3rd place in the Big East Conference, earning the program's first at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament in 2017 and 2021.

In 2021, The United Soccer Coaches Association honored St. John with the Disability Allies Award of Excellence. In 2009 Coach St. John established a chapter of TOPSoccer, a community-based training program for all athletes with intellectual, emotional, and or physical disabilities.

A two-year captain for Purdue University, she earned Academic All-American honors in her senior season. Coach St. John holds the US Soccer A License, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and the NSCAA Level II Goalkeeping Diploma.

  • Rob Alman

“Being a part of the BU Soccer Camp is such a thrill for me. Having the opportunity to work with a staff that is so committed to providing a fun experience for the players is great. And the campers keep me laughing during what is a great week of learning, improving their soccer skills and building long-lasting friendships.”

    -Rob Alman

Coach Alman is the Co-Head Coach of the Butler University Soccer Program. In addition to his time with the Bulldogs, Coach Alman brings 12 years of coaching experience working with players across the full spectrum of youth, college, post collegiate and professional ranks. • Ric Huffman

“Camp is one of the highlights of my year. To have the opportunity to work with so many youth soccer players is a privilege. Indianapolis has such a great foundation of youth programs, we get excited every summer to see kids come back year after year with energy and excitement towards the game. Our aim is to fuel that energy and keep the kids passionate about the sport we love.”

    -Ric Huffman

Coach Huffman is the Butler Soccer Program’s top assistant and has been a part of building a championship team alongside Coach Alman and Coach St. John. • Alex Collier

    Director of Elite

“I am so happy to be involved with Butler Bulldog Soccer Camp. The lively, encouraging, and knowledgeable staff provide a great environment for all players to create friendships, develop soccer skills, and have fun all at the same time!”

    -Alex Collier

Coach Collier, a 2015 Butler graduate, returned to the university as an assistant coach with Butler’s women’s soccer program in July, 2019.

The Bulldogs have received votes in national polls and finished among the BIG EAST leaders in both of his seasons with the program.

Collier returned to his alma mater after spending the last four years coaching and training soccer players at a variety of levels, including the professional ranks.

Collier’s college coaching career began at Millikin University in 2015. He spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the men’s soccer team and was the primary junior varsity coach.
