Happy Campers, Happy Parents

Some of our current or past campers parents opinions...

“I just wanted to say thank you very much for the Butler camp opportunity that Caitlyn was able to experience. She had a great time. She was very excited each day telling me all her stories and just the opportunity to do some new moves, juggles and challenges.”

Arlene L.(Arlene L.)

“I just wanted to take a minute to thank the staff at Butler for a great camp. My daughter really enjoyed it and wants to come back next year again too with her teammates from the Kokomo Soccer Club. Thanks for the updates when rain/flooding got in the way and for the info on the last day of camp so I could come watch her in the juggling and 4 v 4 competition. This is the fourth and final sports camp she’s done this year (2 soccer, 2 basketball) and glad we saved the best for last!”

  • “I wanted to let you know how great of a time our kids had last week at camp. Our daughter Keaton is 7 and our son Dugan is 9. They had a great time, worked incredibly hard and learned a ton. Please keep up the great work and thank you again for running a great camp and giving our young kids the opportunity to work the men’s and women’s players from Butler. It makes it very easy as parents to reinforce the positive role models they saw from you as coaches to the great student athletes at Butler. Our kids already want to go back.”

  • “My daughter spent most of last night juggling, & never getting more than 3 in a row. She was crying in bed, worried she would be the only one on her team not to get a juggling card. Today at camp, she told me she just got mad & determined, & sure enough she got 6!! She proudly has her “5”juggling tag on her back pack. Thank you for encouraging her, this camp has been fantastic.”

  • “Thanks again for a great week. Ellie had a blast. We did highs and lows of the week at dinner tonight and Ellie said Butler camp was her high…when her dad asked her which part. She thought long and hard, shrugged her shoulders, and said, “I just loved all of it!” Thanks. Appreciate your heart with it and the way the girls also learned some soccer skills – Best of both worlds.”

Camp FAQ

Although camp hours are 9:00am – 3:00pm Monday-Thursday, and 9:00am – 12:00pm Friday, there will be supervision for early drop-off starting at 8:00 AM free of charge. We offer Late Care until 6:00 PM Monday-Thursday and until 3:00 PM on Fridays. The cost of Late Care per day is $15. A snack will be provided and campers will be kept entertained in an air-conditioned room with games, movies and activities – should they choose to participate. Pick up for Late Care will be at Hinkle Fieldhouse. For questions regarding Late Care, please email tstjohn@butler.edu .

There is a $20 discount per player with a team sign-up. To be eligible for the discount, team members cannot register online. Team registrations must be completed with Ric Huffman. Contact Coach Ric Huffman by email or call (317)366-5303.

We offer specialized goalkeeper training at each camp session. We believe goalkeepers develop best with a blend of specialized training in goalkeeping fundamentals and game experience. Goalkeepers will have specialized training in the morning and train as field players in the afternoon to help develop foot skills. There is no need to register as a goalkeeper.

A LUNCH PASS can be purchased for $15 ($3.75 per lunch). Camp lunch includes choice of pizza or Smucker’s Uncrustable PB and J, fresh fruit, fresh vegetable, cookie or brownie, and a juice. Campers may also bring their own lunch.

A certified camp athletic trainer will be present during all camp sessions. At camp check-in on Monday morning, if necessary, please make the athletic trainer aware of any medicine or medical conditions your camper may have.

Initially campers will be grouped according to age. After evaluation by their coach and if necessary, campers will be re-grouped according to skill level. A best effort will also be given to honor teammate requests.

Campers will have the opportunity to purchase a bank card at the begining of the week. This card will be used to buy drinks and snacks at the concession stand, eliminating the need to carry cash during the week. Any remaining 'punches' on the card will be refunded on the last day of camp.

On various days, Campers have the option of a 40 minute swim at the HRC indoor pool. You wil receive communication prior to camp letting you know which day(s) your camper has the opportunity to swim. There are Life Guards present. The pool depth is 3 ft, 6 inches. Campers choosing to swim will need a swim suit, towel and a change of shoes for the walk to the pool.

In the case of lighting or other severe weather, we will move campers indoors. Camp will not be canceled due to bad weather, however, Butler University does not have indoor space available to play soccer. We will fill the day with movies, taped soccer games, talent show, trivia games etc. It is up to you if you would like to keep your camper home on days that the weather is not predicted to let up. It does not a frequent occurance, but we have experienced days like this in past.

CAMPERS WILL BE INSTRUCTED BY CURRENT AND PAST BUTLER UNIVERSITY MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS, AS WELL AS RESPECTED CLUB AND COLLEGE COACHES FROM AROUND THE AREA.
